Though Rin’s eyes wandered when they broke apart, Haru’s did not. In a way, he was grateful for the shark’s averted, for it allowed him to watch Rin’s eyes without there being any awkwardness which, right now, was the best thing he could have asked for. There was something so undeniably adorable about Rin’s actions right now that Haru doubted he could rip his eyes away even if he wanted to.
He was sure his own heart must be beating just as fast as Rin’s yet somehow he managed to hold himself together, soaking up a sight he was sure he’d never see and that in itself keeping his outward appearance calm. About as calm as could be anyway, but that soon seemed to slip when Rin’s hand found a new spot to caress.
At that, he dropped his own gaze, suddenly unable to maintain it as he muttered, “That’s a cute face, Rin.”
– Rin expected the other one to naturally contain any sort of shyness. This was Haru after all, but he didn’t mind feeling that slight feeling of cerulean eyes upon him, because that meant it wouldn’t end up with them just standing there like idiots. Oh well, he already looked at them as idiots. Dorks. Something along the lines of that.
When he suddenly saw that Haru moved, seeming to drop his gaze like he was doing too, he couldn’t help but switch positions, now being the one looking at the other one instead of being the one being looked at. Rin blinked a few times before he smiled slightly and once again let his hand move, this time up to the raven’s hair to ruffle it, but only a little bit so it wouldn’t mess it up completely.
"I didn’t think you were ever one to give me compliments like that, Haru,“ he replied, surprised he hadn’t started to deny it while flushed. That would be his normal reaction, but something about this was just too special for him to ruin, so he decided to try and contain his small denial-comments inside of his own mind, strongly refusing to believe he had made any face that could be called ‘cute’.
Even with the reassurance that came with Rin’s reactions and previous words, Haruka still feared that he might react negatively to the kiss, either because he didn’t want it or because he was too shy to accept it.
Thankfully, that was not the case and he felt himself relax when Rin pressed back against him, hesitant but eager. He followed Rin’s new lead, his eyelids drooping for a moment before he pulled away again, his hand still tied with Rin’s own.
– The kiss didn’t really last for that long, but it was enough for Rin now, and when he pulled away, he felt the same shyness wash over him and make him look just ever so slightly down, just because he wasn’t sure what was going on.. His heart felt like it was going to jump right out of his chest, but even if he was shy, he did not step away or let go of the raven.
While still having his eyes anywhere but locked on Haru’s own, the hand on the raven’s throat moved so his thumb could ever so gently stroke his cheek, and the action was so small, but it spoke many words for the shark, and he found it easier that way than having to go through the jumbled mess in his head after words again.
This time it was Haru’s turn to mentally freeze up. The words which accompanied the touch of Rin’s fingers caused his heart to flutter and the heat to rise in his cheeks. Resisting the urge to bring his own fingers to his lips he stood dumbfound for a moment before the words, and Rin’s current behaviour, really sunk in.
Oh. Oh.
Whatever calm he’d felt when he pecked Rin’s cheek seemed to disappear though he was still far more collected than Rin who was now the most shy Haru had ever seen him. Usually, after something like that it would be the other way round and Rin would bound back with his endless charisma.
If he let this moment go now, however, then he wasn’t sure he’d ever take it again. Raising a hand to lightly grasp Rin’s own and stop it’s shuffling he pulled it towards his own to lace their fingers together as he lent to catch the shark’s lips with his own.
✗【☣】 ➝ This is it. This is where I die. Those thoughts went through the shark’s mind when he stood there, awkward and shy as if he was a little child on their first day of school – and he felt more and more embarrassed for each second that passed. He still tried to collect himself, tried to come up with anything good to say, but never managed.
Then he was saved when he felt his hand being gripped, not even noticing Haru’s movements till he felt them, felt how their fingers laced together almost automatically. It was almost as if Haruka had read the shark’s thoughts, and with widened eyes, he froze for a second, replaying the moment in his head over and over to try and see if it was happening or not, then his free hand reached up and was placed at Haru’s throat gently before the redhead – now with a bit of more confidence – deepened the soft kiss while closing his eyes.
He also gave the raven’s hand a small squeeze, finally being able to clean up the chaos of thoughts in his head that had bothered him for a while. He’d just enjoy this moment while it would last.
The kiss was soft and brief, just a short peck for that was all he dared and then he cautiously pulled away. He was in no doubt that he would gain a reaction from that, though what reaction that was be remained to be seen.
Time seemed to stop as he waited for a response, be it a shout, a huff of disgust or whatever else he might do and while he expected the darkening of cheeks, the smile which graced Rin’s features was not something he’d expected to see. Relief washed over him in that moment and his carefully held straight face fell into that of his own, genuine smile.
✗【☣】 ➝ Rin blinked a little at the smile, not used to seeing it on the raven’s face at all. He then reached out and poked Haruka’s lips before he nodded. “You need to do that more.” And that wasn’t a question, it was an order. Seeing Haruka smile was special, laughing even better, but now that he knew the cerulean eyed teen could actually express emotions, he was going to make him smile more often.
He then gulped a little and looked down, his hand not knowing whether to just stay still or rub his neck, so nervously, the redhead decided to go for the second choice. He was still flushed like a tomato, and right now – there was only one thing he wanted to do, but didn’t know if that was pushing himself past Haru’s line, so he remained quiet, standing there awkwardly, looking like he was going to rub his neck forever..
The only thing which caused him to hesitate as he stood was the hand which reached for his wrist and in that moment his heart fluttered. He paused for a moment, standing straight when Rin released his wrist and began to babble.
Even though the air was no different than before, somehow the colour of Rin’s face and how obviously flustered he was gave Haru a strange sort of confidence. There was no denying that the shark was adorable when he wore such an expression and it gave him a wonderfully warm feeling.
When he reached his hands up to hide it and huffed lightly, however, Haru could contain himself no more. If he was wrong then he’d have to face the consequences but right now it felt incredibly right to lean in and press a kiss to ruby cheeks.
✗【☣】 ➝ His mind was chaos. Absolute chaos full of nonsense that was supposed to look something like sentences to say, but nothing worked and it only came out as soft huffs and sighs and cut off words as Rin would try his hardest to come up with something to say.
’Don’t get yourself hurt’ he could almost hear Haruka say in his mind, but he knew very well that the raven was still quiet, which only had him feel even more embarrassed over his messed up .. mess?
Then his thoughts stopped and the chaos was gone, and all he could do was blink a few times, staring at Haruka while the red staining his cheeks got even redder (if possible). His eyes then started to almost.. study the features of the cerulean eyed male. The features he had seen so many times but never taken a chance to look at more, and he found himself smiling like a dumb idiot. Staring as well.
He notes the way in which Rin pulls his head back, not obviously, but enough to be seen, and realises that perhaps he’s read the situation wrong. It wouldn’t be surprising.
He doesn’t know why he feels a twinge of sadness at the thought of moving away or what he expects should he stay, but judging by those choked words, averted gaze and the colour staining Rin’s cheeks, then the shark is very very uncomfortable right now.
It would be unfair not to relieve him of such an awkward situation and so, with regret, he finally shifts to stand up.
✗【☣】 ➝ When the raven got up, Rin couldn’t help but feel disappointment wash over him. Did he do something wrong? The shark didn’t realize it until it was done, but he had quickly reached a hand out to grab lightly onto Haruka’s wrist, gulping a bit.
“.. Sorry. I didn’t mean to.. I don’t know.” Honestly, he didn’t know. Releasing Haru, the shark got up himself, patting at his clothes a bit and pulling in the fabric to get it back in place.
And he was still freaking blushing. How incredibly embarrassing wasn’t that? Reaching his hands up to wipe at his face in attempt to get it away, Rin huffed softly to himself.
Sorry.
He feels as if he should be the one saying it but even with all that’s going on he doesn’t shift and no words come close enough to being voiced even as the other makes an easy mistake.
For a moment he’s grateful for the increased distance brought when Rin slips back with a dull thud though it’s not long before he feels sorry for him.
He doesn’t know what takes over him in the next moment but he’s suddenly aware of his limbs moving without instruction, clasping onto the other’s shoulders to pull him up.
His hips shuffle to create the room for Rin to sit once more before those same hands slide down toned arms to hold the other’s wrists in place beside Haru’s body, stablizing his position.
Except of course, now they’re close. Really close.
“…Ano”
✗【☣】 ➝ The ruby eyed teen was trying his hardest to come up with a plan that would get him out of this awkward position, even though he felt like there was no point in trying. Maybe he could just awkwardly remove the raven and very carefully stand up?
He wasn’t able to come up with any more ideas, suddenly being pulled up without noticing until he met cerulean blue eyes, causing him to blink as his lips parted in a muted voice, he then gulped, head leaning just a bit back as if he was a bird to distance them just a tiny bit.
A dark blush bloomed its way from his cheeks to his neck, and he looked away immediately in a miserable attempt on hiding it.
“W–Well then…”
As if the situation could get any more awkward now?
Maybe he could start tickling the raven again?
No, he remained frozen with heated cheeks.
